Do you ever have those days that nothing seems to be going your way? Maybe you wake up late and get stuck behind the slowest driver on the way to work. You receive bad news out of the blue, the weather is cloudy and your relationship seems to be in turmoil. Or maybe every conversation you have seems to throw you in a complete downward spiral.
So what do you do when you have a day like that?
Sure, it sounds tempting to open a bottle of vino at noon and drowned your sorrows. I’ve had that thought before too!
Recently, I had a day like this. I woke up later than I wanted, I was late to work. My purse was stolen with a ton of valuables in it, including work checks I was taking to be deposited, not to mention my favorite sunglasses! I had two clients yell at me, my boyfriend and I got in an argument and I had a friend tell me she has breast cancer.
To me this was not one of my favorite days. And it seemed like no matter what I did, any direction I headed in, I was bumping into what seemed like more bad energy.
So what did I do? While “Shit” happens, “Shift” can too! Here’s how I made Shift Happen.
Step 1: I first acknowledged that I was no super hero and life was going to be made up of days like this. It was my attitude that I could control during difficult days like this. It’s part of the balance right! Somehow that sorta helped. On to step 2…
Step 2: Then I asked myself what part of all of this upset me the most? And why? When we ask ourselves this in-depth question, we typically get to the heart of the matter, the trigger that has really thrown us off. For me, I was feeling like my life was out of control. Too much going on, too much to do, just too much. Which by the way is typically when I have a day like this.
Step 3: Then I finally asked what my options were to turn this day around. What’s in my control? How can I make lemonade? How do I see the rainbow after the storm?
Step 4: I proceeded to open that bottle of vino! Just kidding, again I thought about it but the truth is that would have just added a headache in the mix. I acknowledge this day was a fragile one for me and I needed to give myself some slack.
So Instead, I enjoyed a beautiful mediation/yoga class to end my evening with people I knew would be searching for the same good energy that I needed. Surrounding yourself with people that will lift you up on a day like this is always a great idea.
We are going to all have hard days. The key is to make Shift Happen! Take these simple tools and apply them to the next time you have a bad day. Just bringing simple awareness to your mind can allow the shift to happen. With a little practice, this really does help!
As always I hope you live a life of health, happiness and abundance and feel sexy doing it! See you next week on LizTV
